It’s not just the flying that makes our club fun. The CXO Flying Club has become a great place for meeting and enjoying social activities with like minded professionals from a variety of piloting backgrounds & careers. Activities like our signature “Bounces & Brews”, monthly breakfast, holiday parties, quarterly club meetings, plane washing, cafe runs, overnight trips, camping/day excursions to Matagorda Island and more are all part of the fun that makes our club special. Matagorda Island

The CXO Flying Club owns a one acre parcel of land on Matagorda Island giving club members exclusive access to land any of our aircraft on the islands old WWII airfield. This is the wild west of aviation! With miles of untamed empty beach, great fishing and camping, Matagorda offers a unique adventure within 1+ hours flying time from KCXO. Members can also purchase access to the MAV (Matagorda Assault Vehicle). The MAV is a mid-90’s, four-wheel drive Suburban packed with beach/fishing/camping gear. While not club owned or maintained, the MAV was placed on the island by several club members who take care of the vehicle and are happy to sell keys for a nominal fee to any member that would like to use it. Club instructors and officers will provide comprehensive orientation to island ops.
